In less than two weeks, we have witnessed two unprecedented Hurricanes of epic proportions impact communities including our nurse colleagues, families, and friends. As we witness communities putting their lives together, we ask you again today to join ANA and keep these communities at the forefront of your thoughts and hearts.
As we witnessed just yesterday, Hurricane Milton made an impact, again in Florida, as well as impacts to the coastal areas in Georgia. As we can all only imagine individually, this second impact has left FL and its residents more vulnerable. Our nurse colleagues, while caring for the communities they love and serve, are honoring their duties to care for patients, under emergency disaster declaration, while also concerned and caring for their own loved ones and families.
We ask that you consider any assistance you can provide to help our nurses and the communities they serve in Florida. The Florida Nurses Association, a Constituent and State Nurses Association has established a disaster relief fund, the Nurses in Need Fund, which provides grants to help nurses in immediate need and asks for your support. Your donation, in whatever you can give, can be provided as follows:
The Florida Nurses Association, Nurses in Need Fund: https://www.floridanurse.org/donations/donate.asp?id=17874
We also ask again to keep the communities and nurses in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia close as they continue their recovery efforts from the previous storm, Hurricane Helene.
We also ask to please keep the family of a nurse, Boone McCrary in Tennessee who lost his life, trying to save others in your thoughts. To our members impacted in each of these states, we are profoundly saddened by your losses and stand with you, in this tough time.
In addition to the support above for Florida Nurses, additional opportunities are:
